A little bit about us

SightRead4 is a concept developed by Dr. Christopher Wiltshire whose widespread experience as a piano teacher, accompanist and repetiteur meant that efficient sight reading became a cornerstone of his career.

This revolutionary concept developed as iPad apps “has been the result of a vast experience in dealing with teachers and their pupils’ sight-reading problems and I have a passionate belief in its simple principles” declares Dr. Wiltshire. “Sight reading is one of the most demanding aspects of any music student’s development and to facilitate a marked improvement in this vital part of a player’s growth is very rewarding indeed.”

Spending four successful years at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in London, Dr. Wiltshire was twice the winner of the Royal Philharmonic Society’s Composers Award. The RAM awarded him an Honorary Diploma for “Services to Music”.

Throughout a career that included work in the professional theatre and free-lance conducting, Christopher always maintained strong links with music education through adjudicating, composing and through examining world-wide for over thirty years.

Wessar International Ltd. was formed in 2011, evolving from Wessar Ltd. which had been established in 2006 to nurture the original conception. Research and development took the idea through several manifestations but the team in Berkshire, UK together with their partners are confident that this new concept will make a substantial contribution to music education.
